This is the second time that Peta has handed over the award to German designers and fashion stores that sell modern vegan clothes, shoes and accessories. This year’s award was handed out in a total of 12 different categories. The patrons of the award are the model and columnist, Ariane Sommer, and the stylist and photographer, Armin Morbach. The two fashion experts judged the selection of styles submitted based on their design, use of innovative materials and the animal-friendliness of the label.

„We should always look closely at what we wear and where the materials come from. Everyone loves to own a nice, high-quality pair of vegan shoes, for example, which are much easier to come by today than they were a few years ago“, explains jury member, Armin Morbach, confidently. And Peta-supporter, Ariane Sommer, is „amazed at all the wonderful labels that combine sustainability, functionality and wearability and still create an exciting look.“
To make things easier for vegan shoppers, Peta distributes the „Peta-approved vegan“ seal to mark clothes and accessories that are animal-free. Companies can use this logo to identify vegan products once they have signed into a free license agreement.
