Who is designing new fashion trends, using exciting vegan materials and ultimately persuading the experts? The animal rights organisation PETA Deutschland e.V. is presenting the Vegan Fashion Awards in 2015 for what will be the third time in succession to recognise designers and fashion companies for their animal-friendly products. The judges assess the entries according to the criteria design, innovation and animal rights in a total of twelve categories. Fashion designers have until 30 June 2015 to submit their collections and styles via the awards website . Entries can be submitted in the following categories: shoes, outerwear, business, handbags and accessories; for men and women in each case. There will also be awards for the best sneakers and the best vegan designers. All designs must be free of fur, leather, wool, down, silk and other animal products. A high-profile jury is lending its support to the awards – among its members are model and author Ariane Sommer and photographer and artist Armin Morbach, who will both be judging the entries. “The ‘Vegan Fashion Awards’ provide a unique chance for designers to show how stylish and sustainable their fashion is,” says Frank Schmidt, spokesman for clothing at PETA. “Vegan fashion is in demand more than ever before and an increasing number of fashion designers are submitting designs ranging from casual to high fashion. The jury is ultimately spoilt for choice and has the glamorous task of crowning the best entries once again this year.” Those interested in entering can also apply for the new ‘PETA-Approved Vegan’ logo to label their vegan creations and use it free of charge once a licensing agreement has been signed.
