The ‘Karl Lagerfeld. Modemethode’ exhibition at Bundeskunsthalle displays more than 120 different looks to illustrate the designer’s fashion universe. It also relates a chapter of the history of fashion from the 20th and 21st centuries. Spanning a period of 60 years, Lagerfeld’s creations for fashion houses such as Chloé, Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel underline his talent for recognising contemporary lifestyles and trends, both in his haute couture and ready-to-wear designs.
Fashion as an integral design concept
The designer’s philosophy of methodical fashion is an integral approach to design. From the first sketches to the finished garment, including accessories, the set and music for the fashion show, the photos, graphic design for the press, brochures, advertising and window dressing – every single detail has been thought through and created by the designer himself.
The exhibition is open from 28 March to 13 September. Further details can be found at www.bundeskunsthalle.de
