Indeed, that’s exactly what Clarks are doing with the Clarks:Rebooted collection – a limited edition of their desert boots. The British label have brought 14 of the country’s artists on board, who have transformed the shoes into miniature works of art. Painter Frank Bowling was one of the artists to be selected. The project has resulted in desert boots with marble effect, geometric prints, finger prints and tweed inserts. A total of 250 pairs of each design have been produced.
Have shoes, will travel
The artists’ original designs have been on show in a touring exhibition since March 2015. The first exhibition was held in Shanghai, and others will follow in Milan, New York and London later in the year. The artworks will finally be auctioned off in London.
Teaming up for charity
To mark this anniversary, Clarks has also teamed up with the charity Halo Trust, whose work includes helping the victims of mines. The British label will be donating 5% of revenue from the sale of the limited editions to this cause. Click here for a preview of the limited editions.
